61 DIVISION CONDUCTED COMMEMORATION OF FALLEN WAR HEROES

Troops of 61 Division commemorated fallen war heroes who sacrificed their lives to establish the peace in the mother land. All Officers and Other Ranks of the Division Headquarters paid their tributes on account of the supreme sacrifice done by the Army, Navy and Air Force heroes to establish the long lasting happiness, peace and harmony among all ethnic groups in Sri Lanka.

The formal ceremonies of commemorating of fallen war heroes were started with raising flags and singing the National anthem and the Army song with the participation of the General Officer Commanding of 61 Division Major General DMS Dissanayake WWV RWP RSP USP ndu and all the ranks in the camp. Later on the gathering kept silence for 2 minutes to pay theirtributes to the war heroes who had lost their lives during three decades of war period.

As the next segment of the day’s event,the message of the Commander of Army was presented and subsequantly, the Division Commander took part in a tree planting at the camp premises.

Then, the Division Commander addressed troops of the 61 Division and participated in an all rank lunch with them.

The commemoration of fallen war heroes was ended with a Sinhala Mass organized in Madu Church and a Bodhi Puja programme held at the 61 Division Headquarters.
