\r\nThe 61 Division, deployed in Velankulam - VAVUNIYA was proudly celebrated its 9th Anniversary on 30th May 2017 with the participation of General Officer Commanding Brigadier W G H A S Bandara RWP RSP and religious activities were prioritized with intention to pass the merits for war heroes those who sacrificed as well as invoke blessing for the soldiers in service. \r\n\r\nAs a custom in ‘Division Day’ traditional Guard turnout was bestowed to the Division Commander by the Troops of 25 SLLI Battalion. Then a tree planting campaign was conducted within the camp premises. Later on, the Commander addressed the troops and emphasised the previous Commanders’ commitments that has been contributed to build up the division up to the expected standard. Afterwards, an all rank tea party was held at the main Conference hall.\r\n\r\nAccording to the concept and supervision of the General Officer Commanding 61 Division, the essential newly constructed buildings for Privates’ Mess, Corporals’ Club, and main kitchen area were declared open at the auspicious time by the Commander Security Forces (Wanni) Major General Ruwan Kulathunga coincide with the 9th Anniversary. \r\n\r\nBrigade Commanders, Commanding Officers of under command battalions to 61 Division, number of Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks participated in this grand occasion.\r\n
