61 Div grandly marks the its 07th anniversary on 30th May 2015 under the guidance of Brigadier W A Wanniarachchi RWP RSP USP ndc psc. A Keeping of foundation stone for main office complex was organized on 29th of May in line with the programme of ceremonious events, with the active participation of 611, 612 and 613 Brigade commanders, Commanding Officers, Officers and all ranks representing the 61 Div and under command establishments. \r\nProgramme of the ceremonious Anniversary on 30th May insisting a series of events such as observing religious rituals invoking of blesses by holding a flag blessing at JAYASIRI MAHA BODHI, poojawa at PUWARASANKULAM Hindu Kovil, MADU church and VAUNIYA MOSQUE prayers. A ceremonious parade was presented to the Division commander followed by all ranks lunch and planning of 500 coconuts plants programme were also during the day. there was a donation of water filters to the under command formations was a another significant event in line with main programme. Inter battalion sport meet will be conducted at play ground of 61 Division’s battalion training school, with presence of the Security Force Commander Wanni.\r\n
