61 Division troops marked the 8th anniversary of the 61 Division with the participation of Brigadier SHFP Perera RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 61 Division on 30 May at the 61 Division premises.\r\n\r\nReligious observances were prioritized with the intention of transferring merits on fallen War Heroes and invoking blessings on the soldiers in service. Buddhist religious observances were conducted at the sacred Jaya Sri Maha Bodiya, Anuradhapura and Hindu Pooja were conducted at Murugan Hindu Temple, Puvarasankulam. Catholic service was conducted at the Holy Madu Shrine and Jumma prayers got underway at Jumma Mosque, Vavuniya respectively. \r\n\r\nA Guard Turnout was war to Brigadier SHFP Perera RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding (GOC) on the same day (30) to suit military traditions.\r\n \r\nAfter the event, all ranks get together to enjoy an all ranks lunch. All officers participated in a tree-sapling planting campaign at the 61 Div premises towards the end of the programmes. A musical show that had been organized by the 61 Division entertained the crowd.
