From 18 to 22 May 2024, the 561 Infantry Brigade in collaboration with troops from the 10th Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry and the 16th Battalion Sri Lanka Singha Regiment, organized an extensive Shramadana Campaign. This initiative aimed to clean and beautify the Siri Bodhi Malu Purana Viharaya premises in Kanakarayankulam.
his noble endeavor was led under the direction of Major General S Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division, and closely supervised by Colonel RSC Dissanayake RSP, Overlooking Brigade Commander of the 561 Infantry Brigade.
During the five-day campaign, soldiers worked tirelessly to ensure the temple grounds were immaculate. Activities included sweeping, debris removal, and other maintenance tasks, all performed with dedication to preserving the temple's sanctity and beauty.
The efforts culminated on May 23, 2024, with a special Bodhi Pooja Program held in celebration of Vesak Festival Day. This significant religious event was organized to offer blessings and bring the community together in a spirit of peace and reverence.
