Troops of the 56 Infantry Division bid farewell to the outgoing General Officer Commanding, Major General H G P M Kariyawasam RSP ndc psc IG during a formal ceremony of Guard Turnout, and the Guard of Honour saluted him at the parade square adorned with military traditions on 12 February 2024 at 56 Infantry Division premises.
Major General Manjula Kariyawasam posed some photographs with all officers and divisional staff after placing his signature on an official document signifying the relinquishment of duties at the office. While addressing the troops of all ranks, he highlighted his thankfulness for their generous, dedicated performance and support extended to him during his tenure. All ranks presented their final salute to General Officer Commanding by waving their berets along the path to the main gate.
Deputy General Officer Commanding, all Brigade Commanders, Colonel General Staff, Colonel Admin and Quartering, Senior Officers of Divisional Staff, Commanding Officers, Officers, and troops were present during the event.
