Troops of 56 division marked the 70th Independence Day by organising a Blood Donation and Shramadhana Campaigns in different areas under 56 Division. These social welfare programmes were launched to enhance the rapport between military and civilians in the area.
All Shramadhana Campaigns were based to clean premises of Government Schools and Hospitals in, Kokeliya, Omanthai, Mamaduwa and Nedunkarni areas. Subsequently, a blood donation campaign was held at Bogaswewa Divisional Hospital with the participation of military personals, staff of Bogaswewa Hospital and teachers of Bogaswewa School.
Hundreds of troops in 56 Division Headquarters and its under command establishments contributed their invaluable assistance under the directions of General Officer Commanding - 56 Division Brigadier T J Nanayakkara RWP USP ndu and supervision of the Commanders - 561 and 563 Brigades.
Entire events were coordinated by Civil Coordinating Branch of 56 Division and both programmes were launched with the participation of General Officer Commanding - 56 Division, Brigade Commanders – 561 and 563 Brigades, Commanding Officers of under command battalions, several officials from schools and hospitals together with number of villagers in the area.
