The prevailing drought has caused to suffer people in Wanni area severely during last few months. Despite intermittent rain showers in several Divisional Secretariat areas in Vavuniya, the public has been aggrieved in maintaining their farmlands and depriving of drinking water.
Considering the situation, the General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc has taken immediate actions to direct his under command formations to distribute bowsers with drinking water since 20 September 2018 covering several villages in 56 Division Area of Responsibility.
Under the instructions given by Commanders of 561 and 563 Brigades number of troops are engaging with distribution of drinking water to approximately 45000 victimised villagers living in three divisional secretariat areas.
