Celebrating the 21st Anniversary, troops of 56 Division organized series of events at the Headquarters premises of 56 Division during 15, 16 and 17 October 2018 with the participation of under command troops to 56 Division.
The 56 Division was raised at Kanagarayankulam on 17 October 1997 under the Command of Major General (Rtd) M D S Chandrapala RSP USP psc and currently the Division has successfully marched its 21 years by serving to the Motherland.
As the first segment of the celebrations, a Pirith Chanting programme was organized at the evening on 15 October 2018 in order to pass the merits for troops who made the supreme sacrifice on behalf of safeguarding the sovereignty of the country. The Chanting Programme was followed by an Alms Giving organised in the morning on 16 October 2018 by troops of the Headquarters of 56 Division.
Prioritising military formalities, the second programme to mark the 21st Anniversary was commenced with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honour accorded to General Officer Commanding of 56 Division Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc by under command troops to 56 Division. There after, the Division Commander attended in an all rank lunch at the Headquarters premises of 56 Division.
As the culmination of the events series, a colourful musical extravaganza was taken place at the evening on 17 October 2018 and some vocalists of Ranaviru Real Star talent show staged with Army Beat Band to entertain the large military crowd gathered in the event.
The series of ceremonies were organised by troops under 56 Division under the supervision of General Officer Commanding 56 Division Major General Prabath Dematanpitiya ndu psc and he graced all events as the Chief Guest.
