542 INFANTRY BRIGADE DONATED SCHOOL ACCESSORIES AND DRY RATION PACKS FOR NEEDY FAMILIES

Troops of the 4th Battalion, the Gajaba Regiment under command to 542 Infantry Brigade donated large stocks of dry ration packs to 200 needy families and school accessories and cash to 150 needy children residing in the Madu Divisional Secretariat area in Mannar District on 23 August 2023 at Madu Church. The total value of the donation is Rs 1,650,000.00.

This donation was sponsored jointly by "Willing Hearts-Singapore" through the coordination of "Mahakaruna Buddhist Society" and "Mahakaruna Education Centre" in Vavuniya. The donation was aimed at supporting the improvement of educational standards for students and the well-being of needy families in the area.

This donation was carried out with the supervision and guidance of Major General WPADW Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu Commander Security Force (Wanni) and General Officer Commanding 54 Infantry Division Major General GWA Seneviratne USP psc. The Advisor and Coordinator to Mahakaruna Buddhist Society Singapore Ven Dr. Karadetiyana Gunarathane Thero, Dr Cyntia Chan International Governor of the Commonwealth Iconic Federation, representatives of the "Willing Hearts-Singapore", Commander 542 Infantry Brigade Colonel TLM Chandrasekara RWP psc, Major MV Fernando Civil Affairs Officer 542 Infantry Brigade and residents in the area were among the participants of the event.
