A group of philanthropists from Hatton National Bank Colombo in collaboration with the 54 Division Headquarters organized a programme on 30 December 2018 to donate essential school items and accessories for the needy students of low-income families of rural areas in Mannar district.
Brigadier Senarath Bandara RWP RSP ndu, General Officer Commanding 54 Division and donors of Hatton National Bank attended the donation programme on an invitation made by Brigadier Keerthi Bandara, Commander 541 Brigade who supervised the organizing of event at Mathota Rajamaha Vihara premises. 170 needy students were benefited with sets of books and a school bag for each and other accessories which worth over Rs: 2500.00.
The donation programme was organized by troops of 541 Brigade under the direction of commander 541 Brigade, and the donors were coordinated by Lieutenant Colonel Rohitha Rathnayaka.
Venerable Ambagahawawa Sangarakkitha thero made his respectful presence at the occasion.
Commander 542 Brigade Colonel Ravi Herath, Senior Officers of 54 Division and Commanding Officers under command to 54 Division participated in the event.
