54 Infantry Division marked its 10th anniversary with several community-oriented programme and military formalities on 10 September 2020 at Divisional Headquarter
To coincide with anniversary, as a first event troops conducted a Shramadana campaign on 25 August at General Hospital Mannar and cleaned up the hospital premises.
The religious events were conducted in Thiruketiswaram Hindu Kovil, Jumma Mosque and St Sebastian Church Mannar in order to gain all religious blessings.Further, 28 Elderly peoples in Mannar Elders home and 30 x Children in Annei Illam children home, Mannar were facilitated to have lunch on 01 September 2020.
Commencing the Buddhist religious activities, the Pirith Chanting Ceremony was conducted on 06 September followed by alms giving on next day morning for 15 Buddhist monks. On the same day 04 lord Buddha’s status were placed in newly constructed 04 Buddha Mandira around the pagoda in 54 Div Manuwehera by GOC 54 Inf Div Major General Indrajith Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu.
The Entirely Refurbished Entrance, TV Room, Bar & Entertainment corner and newly constructed Kitchen Complex of WOs & Sgt Mess was declared opened by GOC followed by a Dinner on 09 September 2020 with parallel to 10th Anniversary programme
As the Main event the GOC - 54 Division was awarded a guard turnout and ‘Guard of Honour’ with military formalities on 10 September 2020 after commemorating the war heroes at Divisional monument. To mark the 10th Anniversary, newly constructed ‘Entrance lion statue’ was declared opened by the GOC on same day.
Then, newly renovated Pte Mess was opened by GOC followed by all rank tea and all Bde Comds & COs of Under command Bde/Bns, all Officers and ORs of Div HQ were participated for the event.
