The Inter Division Cricket Tournament, organized as per guidelines given by the Security Force Commander got underway at the play ground of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni on Monday (13) with players representing Divisions and the Forward Maintenance Area (North Central).
Designed to improve sportsmanship and also to develop cohesion among officers and soldiers, the Commander Security Forces - Wanni, Major General Champaka Ranasinghe wanted it to be a regular feature among the formations under command. The tournament was organized and conducted by the 21 Infantry Division and first round matches were played at 21 Infantry Division play ground with the participation of seven teams and 54 Infantry Division and 56 Infantry Division were qualified for the finals.
The grand finale of the tournament gave the win to 54 Infantry Division after a close tussle with 56 Division. The Commander Security Forces - Wanni, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest in the final awarding ceremony. General Officers Commanding of 21, 54, 56, 62, 65 and Commanders of Forward Maintenance Area (North Central), Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers, Senior Officers, Officers and Other Ranks were associated with the final ceremony. The champions and runners-up were awarded trophies and certificates by the day's Chief Guest.
