"Jayagrahanaya"society of Kandy together with a medical staff of General Hospital Kandy, Faculty of Dental Science in University of Peradeniya and Old Boys of Vidyartha College, Kandy joined hands with troops of 54 Division in organizing a medical camp on 06 November 2018 to facilitate the people in Silawathura area.
This social welfare project was inititied by the General Officer Commanding 54 Division Brigadier WGHAS Bandara RWP RSP ndu.
40 medical staff comprising of Doctors, Nurses and Pharmacist made their invaluable support for the medical camp and representing over 500 Sinhala,Tamil and Muslim villagers in Silawathura was benefited there. Apart from that, bulks of dry ration comprised with Rice, Dhal, Sugar, Milk powder and other essential food items sufficient for 30 days were distributed among 78 families having low income.
This donation was patronised by Ven Mahavilachchiye Vimala thero in aiming of supporting for underprivileged families in the area.
Conducting the medical campaign and distribution of dry - rations were a philanthropic support afforded by Dr.Jeewaka and a team of old boys of Vidyartha College Kandy.
Organising of The medical campaign was carried out by the troops of 22 Battalion of Gajaba Regiment under the supervision of Commander 542 Brigade Colonel IHMRK Herath USP and on the direction of General Officer Commanding 54 Division Brigadier WGHAS Bandara RWP RSP ndu.
Venerable Clergies representing all religions, the Commander 542 Brigade, Senior Officers of 54 Division, the Commanding Officer of 22 Battalion of Gajaba Regiment and Other Ranks and participated in the event.
