54 Division Headquarters at Thallady, Mannar celebrated its 9th Anniversary on 10 September 2019 at Divisional Headquarter with series of colourful events.
The programme was commenced by focusing religious activities and initially the Kovil Poojawa was conducted at Thirukethishwaram Kovil on 06 September 2019 with the participation of all Senior Officers and Other Rank of the Divisional Headquarters.
The Muslim religious activity was conducted at Jumlah Mosque on 09 September 2019 and the Catholic entreaty was conducted in St Sebestian Catholic church Mannar on 12 September 2019.
Moreover, the troops have organized an Alms giving for 100 persons at Elders’ home - Mannar on 07 September 2019 and a blood donation programme at Div HQ on 10 September 2019 with the collaboration of Blood Bank, General Hospital Mannar.
As the Main event the General Officer Commanding - 54 Division Brigadier Indrajith Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu, was awarded a guard turnout and parade with military formalities on 16 september 2019 after commemorating the war heroes at Divisional monument. Then, all rank lunch was arranged at Private Mess – 54 Division on same day with the participation of GOC, all Officers and SNCOs. As the next event Other Ranks get together was held at Mathota Sports Arena in same day evening.
On 18 September, A Pirith Chanting ceremony was held at Divisional Headquarter and Alms giving to the 15 Buddhist monks on following day morning.
As per the directions of General Officer Commanding - 54 Division, a special get together was organized for the civil servants of the Divisional HQ on 17 September, All officers and Senior NCOs were participated in the event.
The WOs’ and Sgt Mess party was held on 19 September with the presence of GOC as the chief guest for the event.
Series of ceremonies were came to the end with Officers get together held on 20 September with the participation of GOC, Brigade Commanders and Commanding Officers of under command formation and all the Officers of Divisional Headquarter.
Apart from them, a newly constructed Division entrance board was declared open by General Officer Commanding 54 Division Brig AAIJ Bandara RWP RSP USP ndu on 18th September to mark the 9th Anniversary.
