54 Division celebrated New Year Festival at Mannar town
Under the advice and guidance of Maj Gen J R Kulathunga Commander Security force – Wanni, all officers and other ranks of 54 Division together with civilians in Mannar area celebrated New Year festival at public ground Mannar on 29 April 2017.\r\n\r\nAt the invitation of Brigadier JayanthaSeneviratne –General Officer Commanding 54 Division Mr. MYS Deshapriya, District Secretory for Mannarattended the occasion as the chief guest.\r\n\r\nBy promoting reconciliation between Security forces and civilians, it has organized many traditional games such as Bicycle race, Cross country, Grease – pole climbing, Tracing of the hidden guest, Tug of War, Fancy dress, selection of Awurudu Kumara and Kumariya followed by SingithiAwuruduKumariya etc. The typical model village (GemiGedara) was displayed throughout the day.\r\n\r\nMain sponsor of the event was Nestle Lanka.\r\nAt the end of New Year festival the Chief Guest and other invitees gave away prices and gifts to the winners.\r\n\r\nFinally, the festival ended with two hours musical show.
