29TH COMMEMORATION OF LATE LT GEN DENZIL KOBBEKADUWA

The 29th death anniversary of one of the legendry military leaders in Sri Lankan Military History, late Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa RWP RSP VSV USP rcds psc was commemorated in front of the Lieutenant General Denzil Kobbekaduwa statue at Anuradhapura on 08 August 2021.

This gallant war hero along with a team of renowned military commanders, were victimized to a land mine blast at Arali Point, Jaffna on 08 August 1992. The day’s proceedings were comprised with religious observances, laying of floral wreaths to the monument and a humbler military traditional event. The Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General D M H D Bandara RWP RSP USP made his presence as the Chief Guest for the event.

The Colonel Commandant of Armoured Corps Major General D B S N Bothota RWP RSP USP psc along with the General Officer Commanding of 21 Division Major General W R M M Rathnayaka RWP RSP USP ndu, General Officer Commanding of 59 Division Major General G D Sooriyabandara USP, Senior Officers of Armoured Corps and Senior Officers of Tri- Service and Other Ranks were present at the occasion.
