Headquarters 21 Division and it’s under command formations conducted series of ‘Shramadana’ campaignsto cleanseveral places to mark the 70th Independence Day.
These Shramadana campaigns were conducted by under command Brigades independently along with their subordinate battalions.
Campaign was launched by troops of 21 Division Headquarters cleaning the premises of Ruwanweliseya Temple for the convenience of devotees paying homage to the noble shrine.
Troops of 22 Gajaba Regiment cleaned an Elders Home and a Children’s Home for special needs children in Pampemadu while 2 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment cleaned the premises of the Christian Church in Komasakulam.
Surroundings of Government Hospitals in Kekirawa and Elayapaththuwa were cleaned by 7 (V) Sri Lanka Armoured Corps and 5 Sri Lanka National Guard respectively while 213 Brigade Headquarters conducted Shramadana campaigns at Government Hospital – Cheddikulam, Settikulam School and Children’s Home in Mankulam.
Final programme of the campaign was to clean the Children’s Home for special needs children by 9 (V) Engineers Services Regiment.
All events were organised under the guidance and supervision of General Officer Commanding 21 Division, Major General W R P De Silva USP ndu IG.
