1ST BATCH COMMENCED IN INDIGENOUS ‘ANGAMPORA’ MARTIAL ART

An Angampora training program was started under the direction and guidance of Major General W P A D W Nanayakkara RSP VSV USP ndu, Commander Security Forces (Wanni) with the close supervision of the Sri Lanka Army Angampora Committee with the aim of enhancing age-old self-defense techniques, physical strength, endurance, courage and tolerance among the Army personnel serving under Security Force Headquarters (Wanni).

A month duration program was started on 19 February 2024 with the participation of 30 Army male personnel under command to Security Force Headquarters (Wanni). In the inaugural ceremony Army Angampora professionals demonstrated their new defensive skills and martial art techniques using respective weaponries. On 18 March 2024 the Angampora Team held a vibrant event to Commemorate the end of the Training and Major General W P A D W Nanayakkakara RSP VSV USP ndu the Commander of the Security Forces (Wanni) graced the occasion as the chief guest. Further he presented a memento to the Chief Instructor as a token of appreciation and Divisional Commanders of under Command Infantry Divisions, Commander Log Command (Wanni), senior officers, officers and Other Ranks of SFHQ (Wanni) participated for the event
