With the guidance of the Major General J P C Peiris RWP RSP ndc, the Commander Security Force (Wanni) 17(V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry has made a commendable contribution by completing the construction of a new home for a deserving low-income family in Pampeimadu on 19 October 2024. This act of generosity was celebrated with a ceremonial handover of the house, which was presided over by Major General S Kasturimudali RSP ndc psc, the General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division. The initiative reflects the ongoing efforts of the Sri Lankan military to support and uplift underprivileged communities, highlighting their role beyond defense duties in nation-building and social welfare.
The construction of the new house in Pampeimadu was made possible through the generous financial assistance provided by Mr. Chandana Nanayakkara, Manager of INSEE Cement (Pvt) Ltd. His contribution was facilitated by the coordination efforts of Colonel T.W.G.D.M. Amarasinghe RWP psc, Commander of 562 Infantry Brigade. The 17(V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry played a key role in this heartwarming initiative, demonstrating their dedication to community service. Their efforts highlight the military’s broader commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable individuals and supporting social welfare causes.
