17 SLLI Troops Round the Clock Help Movement of Patients in Vavuniya Hospital

17 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops of the 562 Infantry Brigade under the 56 Infantry Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) were quick enough to extend their continuous assistance to the patients at the District Hospital Vavuniya for movement of patients since the hospital elevator remained defunct for some time.

Hospital authorities, faced with the difficulty of moving patients down from upstairs due to the malfunctioning of the elevator turned to the SFHQ-Wanni for assistance since the hospital minor staff alone could not cope with the requirement.

Accordingly, 17 SLLI camp, beginning early September deployed 5 Other Ranks to facilitate the movement of those patients round the clock at first for more than 4 days in September. The intermittent breakdown of the elevator in the past two months necessitated the presence of Army troops for their movements.

The Commanding Officer, 17 SLLI under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces - Wanni, General Officer Commanding, 56 Infantry Division and the Commander, 562 Infantry Brigade supported the humanitarian project.
