Under the leadership of Commander Security Force (Wanni) Major General J P C Peiris RWP RSP ndc, and with the direction of General Officer Commanding 56 Infantry Division Major General Nishantha Muthumala USP psc, troops of the 12th Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment carried out a life-saving rescue operation in Vavuniya, North Central Province. The regiment’s Commanding Officer, Major Rangala Gamlathge RWP RSP, and his troops responded urgently when a man, who had ventured dangerously close to the spill bund of the Kalmadu Reservoir, was swept away by its powerful currents.
