“YO GILĀNAṂ UPAṬṬHI – SO MAṂ UPAṬṬHI ” [ONE WHO SERVES THE SICK, SERVES ME (TATHĀGATHA) PERSONALLY].

The troops of the Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) conducted herbal drink dansela at Ruwanveliseya premises under the patronage of Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, Lieutenant General H L V M Liyanage RWP RSP ndu and with the guidance of the Commander Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), Major General C D Ranasinghe RWP RSP and under the supervision of the Commander, Forward Maintain Area (North/Central), Major General M E P Weerasinghe USP ato and other sisters services and Police gathered the merits yielding long life; by providing a tent of three thousand square feet (100 feet x 30 feet) as shelter for the devotees who attended the Sīla programme held at Welimaluwa of Ruwanweli Mahā Seya on Wednesday, 28 Dec 22, protecting the devotees from rain and humidity; and, by providing five thousand cups of ginger - coriander (Roasted till coffee brown colour) herbal drink dansela, with equal kindness toward all devotees- those who observed sīla and those who did not observe sīla, who came to Ruwanweli Mahā Saeya premises on that day; under the guidance of Consultant Dr. Indrajith Somarathna of Ayurveda Medical Faculty, University of Colombo (Coordinated by a clergy living a low profile livelihood); in order to protect lungs; which are already weakened by Corona Virus and accumulated exhaled air due to wearing face masks; during this phase that government hospitals lack medicine, and environmental temperature is low and environmental humidity is high.

According to Ayurveda Medical opinion, other kinds of herbal drinks that is conducive for cold season are tea, ginger – tea, coffee, cocoa, venivelgeta, ginger-roasted coriander - venivelgeta, roasted cumin, paspanguwa, peyawa, thembumhodi and rasam (When preparing during hot season, coriander should be unroasted, in order to cool down the body). As prevalence of diabetes patients are high in Sri Lanka, lessening the quantity of sugar added when preparing herbal drinks, would help to lessen the incidence and prevalence of Cardio Vascular Diseases.

The one who is skilled to practice the observe precepts would be fearless to enter any field, even the battle field.
