The troops of 622 Infantry Brigade belongs to the 62 Infantry Division under the Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) with the patronage received from the alumni friends of Royal College, Colombo together with old scholarly friends of Sri Jayawardenapura University, distributed packs of exercise books to newly schooling children for grade one at National School Jayanthiya, Samanpura Maha Vidyalaya and Ehetugaswewa Vidyalaya on 27 February 2023.
In the outset 300 book packs total worth of Rs. 900,000.00 were distributed among 300 newly schooling kids belongs to Sripura education division.
The organizational aspect of the project got underway under the guidelines given by the General Officer Commanding - 62 Infantry Division, Major General Janaka Ranasinghe and under the supervision of Commander - 622 Infantry Brigade, Brigadier Enoj Herath.
The General Officer Commanding of 62 Infantry Division graced occasion as the Chief Guest. Lieutenant Colonel Senaka Munasinghe the Commanding Officer of the 9th Battalion the Gajaba Regiment along with battalion troops coordinated the event.
The programme sponsored by the alumni friends of Royal College, Colombo together with old scholarly friends of University of Sri Jayawardenapura as per the concept and initiative taken by Mr. Prasad Loku balasooriya.
