  • High Commissioner of India for Sri Lanka Receives Updates from Jaffna Commander and Paid Tributes to Indian War Heroes at IPKF Monument in Palaly

    HE Mr.Gopal Baglay, High Commissioner of India for Sri Lanka and entourage paid a visit to the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna on Friday, 12 March 2021 during a visit to the peninsula. Major General Priyantha Perera, Commander Security Force-Jaffna welcomed them to the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna.

    During the cordial meeting, matters pertaining to the Civil - Military Coordination (CIMIC) and Reconciliation Process in the peninsula and the role of army in the process of sustainable peace and well-being of the community were also briefed by the Commander, Security Force - Jaffna. Further, he briefed the ongoing projects of construction of houses to the Indian delegation.

    The High Commissioner, the Consul General of India in Jaffna, and First Secretary at High Commission of India in Sri Lanka and other officials expressed happiness over prevailing civil- military relations and underlined the importance of further strengthening of such bonds.

  • Indian Peace Keeping Force Fallen Heroes Remembered in Jaffna on the Republic Day of India

    On the occasion of the 72nd Republic Day of India, Security Force Jaffna and Consulate General of India in Jaffna paid tributes in the memory of fallen heroes of the 10th Para Commando Regiment of Indian Army who sacrificed their lives during the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) operation “Operation Pawan” in Jaffna between year 1987 and 1989. The commemoration ceremony was held at the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) monument in Palaly, Jaffna on Thursday, 26 January 2021.

    The Consul General of India in Jaffna, Mr. S Balachandran together with the Commander Security Force - Jaffna, Major General Priyantha Perera RWP RSP ndu placed floral wreaths at the monument in honour of the fallen heroes of Indian Peace Keeping Force.

    Senior Army Officers, Officials of the Consulate General of India in Jaffna and troops witnessed the commemoration.

  • New Security Force Commander - Jaffna Assumes Office amid Ceremonials

    Major General Priyantha Perera of the Gemunu Watch assumed office as the Commander, Security Force - Jaffna on Tuesday 19, January 2021 during a formal ceremony held at the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna amid multi-religious observances and military formalities. The military formalities commenced with paying tributes to War Heroes Monument at Palaly. On the arrival to the headquarters premises, Major General Priyantha Perera was accorded with a guard turn out and afterwards, he was honoured in a guard of honour parade extended by the troops belong to 12th Battalion The Gemunu Watch Battalion. Amidst blessings of clergy, he left his signature for a formal document to signify the taking over of new appointment.

  • Major General Senerath Bandara Completes His Tenure as Commander Security Force - Jaffna

    Major General Senarath Bandara who held the office of the Commander Security Force (Jaffna) for over 05 months, relinquished the appointment on 16 January 2021 to assume office as Chief of Staff of Sri Lanka Army. Prior to leaving Jaffna, the outgoing Commander Security Force – Jaffna appreciatively addressed the under command troops. He offered his gratitude to all ranks serving in respective formations for high standard of professionalism maintained during the period and committed service rendered to maintain a peaceful environment in Jaffna peninsula. On 16 January, he was accorded a Guard of Honour at the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna by the troops of 12th Gemunu Watch.

  • Coordinating Conference on Covid – 19 Preventing Operations

    The presidential secretariat on the recommendations of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Sir Lanka Army, appointed 25 Senior Army Officers to coordinate the Covid - 19 control operations in each district with effect from 01 January 2021.

    With the dawn of year 2021, the Commander, all Officers and Other Ranks of Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna commenced duties for the New Year following military traditions.

  • The Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army Pays a Visit to Security Forces (Jaffna)

    Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva made an official visit to Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) on 17 December 2020 and he was warmly welcomed by the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) Major General Senerath Bandara.

    Visiting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army was accorded a Drive Pass by 14 Gajaba Regiment troops, and he planted a Mango sapling near the main entrance to the Headquarter premises of Security Forces (Jaffna). In concurrence, 400 Mango saplings were planted by the troops at “Senura Uyana’’ in the Palaly Army Cantonment.

    Later, Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army made his troops address at the Auditorium, in which over 160 of troops were present representing all under command formations of Security Forces (Jaffna). During the address he commended the selfless commitment of troops extended to prevent Covid 19 pandemic and safeguard the citizens in Jaffna peninsula. He made a complementary note on the welfare projects and prompt disaster relief measures initiated by troops during the ‘‘Buravi Cyclone’’ landfall.

    At the end of the troop address, on behalf of all ranks under Security Forces Jaffna the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) presented token of appreciation to the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army in order to mark his visit to Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna). And also Regimental Sergeant Majors belong to Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna), 51, 52, 55 Divisions and Forward Maintenance Area- North presented a plaque to the Commander of the Army to mark his official visit.

  • A Delegation of Defence Attaches Visit Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna

    Defence Attaches of USA, Russia, Australia, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Maldives Foreign Embassies and High Commissions in Sri Lanka visited Security Forces – Jaffna, and had a Cordial meeting with the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) Major General Senerath Bandara on Sunday, 13 December 2020.

    The Security Forces Commander briefed Defence Attaches on current civil military coordination and other matters of concern pertaining to the Security Forces – Jaffna. Several Senior Officers and Staff Officers also participated in the discussion.

  • Jaffna Security Forces Commander Pays a Courtesy Call on the Governer of the Northern Province
