Jaffna Got Talent Dancing and Singing Competition – 2020

The Security Forces Jaffna always dedicated to address the needs of civil community in Jaffna peninsula took a giant leap forward in its initiatives to conduct JAFFNA GOT TALENT dancing and singing competition to open up avenues for talented youth in Jaffna peninsula. The mega competition designed for enthusiastic youths to showcase their exclusive aesthetic talents while strengthening bonds of goodwill, reconciliation and understanding between members of Security Forces and the community.

In line with the concept initiated and guided by the Commander Security Forces - Jaffna Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, this competition was exclusively organized under the close supervision of General Officer Commanding 52 Division Major General Sena Waduge and with the assistance of professionals from the Faculty of Arts Jaffna University.

The competition was held under two categories, dancing and singing and competitors got opportunities to perform in any category of their choice as per their talents. The competition commence from 11 February 2020 with selection rounds and followed by performance rounds under evaluation of a prominent judge panel of professionals from Faculty of Arts Jaffna University as well as professionals within and outside Jaffna peninsula.

At the semifinal, 05 contestants in each category were selected to go for the Grand Finale of the competition which held at Thanthai Chelva Auditorium, Jaffna. Hon. Mrs P S M Charles, Governor of Northern Province graced the occasion as the Chief Guest on the invitation of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya Commander Security Forces (Jaffna). Mr S Balachandran Consul General of India in Jaffna was the Guest of Honour on 02 August 2020.

All the participants at the Grand Finale were awarded certificates and cash prizes. The finalists; Jegatheeswaran Mathushigan the winner of the Singing Competition and Aththiya Jeyabalan the winner of the Dancing Competition were awarded the Champions Trophy with Rs. 200,000.00 Cash prizes each. The first runner up trophies were presented to Sivaloganathan Mary Madona of Singing competition and Vanathy Visvanathan of Dancing competition. The contestants placed second and third at each category were also awarded cash prizes worth Rs. 100,000.00 and Rs. 50,000.00.
