Army Leads People to Say No to Polythene and Plastic in Jaffna

Apart from the tireless efforts against COVID – 19 pandemic, troops under Security Forces Jaffna made initiatives to preserve Jaffna town as a polythene and plastic free city. On the conceptual directives of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Lalith Rathnayake, General Officer Commanding 51 Division guided under command troops to clean up Jaffna town and vicinity collecting polythene, plastic and waste materials on 12 July 2020 in order to prevent environment pollution.

Sri Lanka police, Special Task Force and Disaster Management Centre in Jaffna supported the troops to launch this initiative to make polythene and plastic free environment in Jaffna town. Mr. Vamadeva Thiagendran, Founder and Chairman of Thiyahie Charitable Trust Fund also participated this environmental programme.

Annual Grand Festival of Maviddapuram Kandasamy Temple Hosted By Security Forces on 10 July 2020

Apart from massive social welfare projects, Security Forces Jaffna extends fullest supports to the conduct of religious festivals in Jaffna peninsula in view with promoting spiritual well being and religious harmony among Jaffna communities.

Accepting the invitation made by the Chief Kurukkal of Maviddapuram Kandasamy Temple, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna took part in the festival performances accorded on 10 July 2020. Senior Army Officers and Troops associated with the Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, and a lot of devotees were present at the occasion to receive blessing.

Jaffna Troops Undertake Sterilization of Schools

On the directives of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces – Jaffna, troops under 55 Division of Security Forces – Jaffna under took sterilization of schools located in Kilaly, Iyakachchi, Palai, Marudankarny, Ampan, Nagarkovil and Champiyanpaththu areas on 02 July 2020 in order to prevent spreading of COVID 19 virus and protect the school children in Jaffna peninsula from global pandemic.

Brigadier Heyran Drahiem assumed office as the Brigadier Admin and Quartering of Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna on Wednesday 01 July 2020. He placed his signature in the first official document to mark assuming duties in the presence of Senior Staff Officers.

Jaffna Troops Undertake Sterilization of Schools

On the directives of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces – Jaffna, troops under 51 Division of Security Forces – Jaffna under took sterilization of schools established in Chunnakam, Inuvil, Uduvil, Kopay, Thavady, Ujarapulam, Urumpirai, Velanai, Keyts, Ariyalai, Arali, Vaddukkodai, Sangarathai, Mallakam, Alaveddy, Pannalai, Maviddapuram, Sandilippay, Thaiyiddi, Kankesanthurai, Palali, Kurumpasiddy, Vasavilan, Mailiddy, Valalai Kopay, Irupalai, Karampan, Thellippalai, Veemankamam, Vardavilan, Ottakappulam and Urani areas on 27 to 30 June 2020 in order to prevent spreading of COVID 19 virus and protect the school children in Jaffna peninsula from global pandemic.

On the directives of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces – Jaffna, troops under 52 Division of Security Forces – Jaffna under took sterilization of schools established in Idaikadu, Achchuveli, Thondamanaru, Uduppiddy, Imayanan, Meesalai, Allarai, Vidaththatpalai, Madduvil, Karampakurichchi, Varani, kodikamam, Idaikurichchi and Paththameni area on 26 June 2020 in order to prevent spreading of COVID 19 virus and ensure a healthy environment for school children.

Jaffna Troops Undertake Disinfection of Students' Hostels at University Of Jaffna

On the request made by authorities of University of Jaffna, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna directed troops under 51 Division to undertake disinfection of Anandacumarasamy Girls' Hostel - Thirunelvely, Balasingam Boys' Hostel - Thirunelvely, Kokuvil new Girls' Hostel 1& 2 - Kokuvil and Kokuvil new Hostel 1& 2 - Kokuvil buildings and surrounding areas on 30 June 2020 in order to prevent spreading of COVID 19 virus and ensure a healthy environment for university students in Jaffna. During the disinfection programme the Police Special Task Force extended their support to Sri Lanka Army.
