The Semi Finals of Jaffna Got Talent 2020 Singing and Dancing competition was held on Tuesday, 10 March 2020 at the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna) with the patronage of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna. At the Semi Finals 20 competitors (10 each in Singing and Dancing) staged their talents before the expertise Judge Panel and a large audience, and out of them 05 competitors each for Singing and Dancing were selected to compete at the Grand Finale.
Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, General Officers Commanding 51, 52 and 55 Divisions, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, Troops and a gathering of parents and well wishers were present at the Semi Finals. Certificates of participation and appreciation were awarded to the 10 semifinalists who were not selected for the finals.

The annual Kachchative feast which is traditionally held in Kachchativu islet, is attended by a large number of Sri Lankan as well as Indian devotees with a great sense of spiritual attachment to St. Anthony’s Church. The feast mass was conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English languages. The Bishop - Diocese of Galle, Rt. Rev. Raymond Wickramasinghe, Vicar General of Sivagangai Diocese - India, Rev. Joseph Lourdu Raja were in attendance and the Bishop of Jaffna Rt. Rev. Dr. Justin Gnanapragasam led the mass amidst a large gathering of devotees and military personnel of Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Navy on Saturday, 07 March 2020. Sri Lanka Navy facilitated the entire proceeding with the assistance of Sri Lanka Army and Sri Lanka Police.

Security Forces (Jaffna) with technical support of Wickramarachchi Opticians - Jaffna branch made arrangements to conduct another community- oriented welfare programme in Jaffna peninsula on Monday, 09 March 2020. Upon the directions of Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, 513 Brigade organized the Eye Clinic on 8 March 2020 and the free distribution of Spectacles for needy people on 9 March 2020. The spectacles for the needy people were donated by Mr. Palitha Hewamudali, the Chairmen of National Language Institute.
Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), General Officer Commanding 51 Division, Commander 513 Brigade, Senior Officers, Principal and Teachers of Arali Saraswathi School, Troops and a large number of needy people were present in the progaramme held at Arali Saraswathi School in Vaddukkodai.

The Volleyball tournament, which had the participation of 10 teams under command to Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna was organized by the Forward Maintenance Area (North) under the guidance and direction of the Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya in order to improve the sportsmanship of Officers and Soldiers and to develop cohesion among them. After a tight competition, the 55 Division Team emerged champions beating 52 Division Team at the finals of the Volleyball tournament of the Security Forces - Jaffna.
55 Division Team won the Champions Trophy and 52 Division Team emerged runners - up in the tournament. The Best Dasher was entitled to S/830048 Private Jayasena HP of 1st Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment. The Best Passer was S/830141 Private Gunasekara BUU of 1st Battalion Mechanized Infantry Regiment. The finals was held at the Forward Maintenance Area (North) premises on Friday, 06 March 2020.

The Security Forces Jaffna always dedicated to the needs of the community in Jaffna peninsula has taken initiative to conduct JAFFNA GOT TALENT dancing and singing competition in an effort to open up avenues for the youth in Jaffna peninsula to showcase their exclusive aesthetic talents while further strengthening bonds of goodwill, reconciliation and understanding between members of Security Forces and the Community.
Conceptualized and guided by the Commander Security Forces - Jaffna Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, this competition is exclusively organized under the close supervision of General Officer Commanding 52 Division Major General Sena Waduge and with the assistance of professionals form the Faculty of Arts Jaffna University.
This competition is being held under two categories, dancing and singing whereas competitors get the opportunity to perform in any category of event as per their talents. The preliminary selections of this competition were held on 11 to 15 Feb 2020 at North Ceylon Oriental Musical Society auditorium in Jaffna where large number of enthusiastic contestants participated for the competition, clearly demonstrating that the youth in Jaffna peninsula had been eagerly looking for an opportunity to come forward with their talents.

Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna facilitated another visit of pre-school students to Palaly Airport on Monday 17 February 2020. A number of 63 students of Shanmugan Pre-School, St. Jude Pre-School, Kalavany Pre-School and Gandhy Pre-School in Jaffna, visited the premises of Palaly Airport along with their teachers and parents to experience the scenery of aircrafts.
The visit was arranged by the Security Forces Headquarters upon the directions and guidance of the Commander Security Forces -Jaffna, Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya. And also they were offered refreshment by the Army personnel

Another event of welfare for the civil community in Jaffna peninsula was initiated by Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna in collaboration with the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress and Success Colombo Organization on Saturday 25 January 2020 at the Divisional Hospital in Maradankerny. Specialist Dr. (Retired) Anula Wijesundara and her medical team gave their assistance to uplift the healthcare standards of the people in the area
The medical camp was coordinated and organized by the troops of 553 Brigade under the supervision of 55 Division. Approximately 200 people were treated and educated by the medical team which consisted of 4 doctors and 10 medical staff. Senior officers, officers and troops were present at the Programme.

Joining hands with the civil community in Point Pedro, troops under Security Forces Jaffna organized a Thai Pongal celebration traditional event at Alwai Sri Vallipuram Swami Kovil on Wednesday 15 January 2020. The event in which a large number of devotees and Hindu dignitaries took part, was organized by 55 Divisions on the direction of Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna.
Commander Security Forces – Jaffna, General Officers Commanding 55 and 51 Divisions, Senior Officers and Troops participated in the ceremony.

Upon the adverse weather condition existed in Jaffna Peninsula during last monsoon season, the road running from Iyyakachchi Junction to Kadeikadu was damaged and hampered the routine public transport services. Accordingly the day- to- day life of the people in Veththalakerni and Kovil areas was affected due to the adverse weather condition.
With a short notice, the troops of 23 The Gemunu Watch and 12 The Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment under the 552 Brigade initiated necessary measures to repair the damaged road during the first week of January 2020, following the directions of Major General Sampath Kotuwegoda, General Officer Commanding 55 Division. Troops assistance was praised by the civil community and government authorities in the area.
