  • Troops of 7 Vir Donated Books for Students of Chawakachcheri Roman Cathala Tamil School

    The 7th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment conducted a Book Donation Campaign on 01 October 2022 with the participation of Second In Command Major Thushara Kumarasinghe 7th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment in order to mark the World Children’s Day. School books were distributed among twenty one students of the Chawakachcheri Roman Cathalic Tamil School. Moreover, the students were provided with essential school equipment worth of Rs:2000.00. The Senior Officers, Officers and troops of the 7th Battalion the Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment were participcted for the campaign to make the community projet a success.

  • New Water Facilities Installed for Students at American Mission Tamil Mix College-Jaffna

    To maintain goodwill among the Army and Tamil Community, along with the blessings of General Officer Commanding 52 Infantry Division Major General Sanjeewa Fernando RWP RSP ndu and the Commander 522 Infantry Brigade Colonel Chandima Kumarasingha, troops of 52 Infantry Division with the coordination of the troops of 522 Infantry Brigade took steps to establish a Water Purification Plant in order to fulfill the requirement of drinking water necessity of the students of J/VaraniIyattal American Mission Tamil Mix College (AMTM) located in the area of VaraniIyattal with the assistance of Commanding Officer, Major Ranjith Prasanna and troops of 15th Battalion Gajaba Regiment. The generous financial contribution for this project was provided by the Korea Friends of Hope International.

  • Army Vested a New Home for a Family in Jaffna

    Troops of the Security Forces (Jaffna) once again extended their technical, engineering and manpower support to build a new house to another underprivileged family in Uduththurai, Kaddaikadu after their plight was brought to the notice of Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, Commander Security Force (Jaffna).

    The handing over ceremony of the newly built house to Mrs. Vijayakanthan Vasanthakumari, a widowed mother to three daughters, was held with the gracious presence of the Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) amid a brief ceremony held on 27 September 2022.

  • SFHQ (J) Helps Children to Improve Language Proficiency

    In order to help improve English language profeciency of the students in Palaly North Government Mix Tamil School (GMTS), the Security Force Headquarters (Jaffna) under an Army-designed “English Language Skill Development “ launched a programme to teach English for students of Grade 1-5 on Sunday, the 25 September 2022.

    As per the concept of the Commander Security Force Headquarters(Jaffna), Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, Captain Roshni Ranasinghe, the English Instructor at Security Force Headquarters (Jaffna) will conduct the classes every Sunday between 2-4 p.m at the “Ambalama” at T-Junction.

  • Community Project to Clean the Kareinagar Coastal Belt Area.

    The 513 Infantry Brigade initiated another community project by organizing a Shramadana Campaign to clean the coastal belt in Kareinagar. This programme was organized as per the instructions of the Commander Security Force (Jaffna), Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu, the guidance of General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division, Major General KAA Udaya Kumara RSP USP USAWC psc and under the supervision of Commander 513 Infantry Brigade, Colonel M Rizvi Razick RSP.

    The project to clean the costal belt was conducted by the troops of 11 SLLI along with Divisional Secretariat Kareinagar and Provincial Ministry of Health in Kareinagar, Sri Lanka on the theme of “Protect the Environment of Beach”.

  • 1st Mechanized Troops Donated Library Books to Iyyakachchi School

    To coincide with the upcoming World Children’s Day, according to a concept of Major General Prasanna Gunarathne, General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division under the Security Force Headquarters Jaffna and with the guidelines of Commander 552 Infantry Brigade, The troops of 1st Mechanized Infantry Regiment donated Library Books to Iyyakachchi Government Tamil Mix School (GTMS) at Jaffna. The National Library and Documentation Service Board donated the stock of valuable Tamil Books and it was coordinated by Mr Kalana Chandimal Weerathunga Wakista, who is serving in the National Library and Documentation Service Board as a Conservation and Restoration Division Officer.

  • Foundation Stone Laid for a New House to the Family of Selwarasa Kirisriga from Victoria College - Chullipuram

    The 513 Infantry Brigade initiated another humanitarian intervention by acquired a land and laying foundation stone for constructing a new house to the family of Selwarasa Kirisriga who has selected to the 20 - member Sri Lankan Cricket under 19 squad from Victoria College, Chullipuram in 513 Infantry Brigade AOR on 16 September 2022. This programme was organized as per the concept of Commander Security Forces (Jaffna) Major General Chandana Wijayasundara RSP USP ndu under the guidance of General Officer Commanding 51 Infantry Division Major General KAA Udaya Kumara RSP USP USAWC psc and the supervision of Commander 513 Infantry Brigade Colonel M Rizvi Razick RSP.

  • 55 Infantry Division Organize a Football Tournament Among Civil Sports Clubs

    Uplifting the sportsmanship among the youth in the northern area, 55 Infantry Division has organized a friendly soccer encounter between Jaffna and Kaddaikadu Youth Teams under the conceptual guidance of General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG on 10 September 2022 at Kaddaikadu Football Ground.

    This match was staged to enhance and identify the skills of the talented youth of civil sports clubs in the respective areas. Further it was aimed to uplift the cohesion between the youth in the northern region and the Sri Lanka Army. Commander Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna), Major General Chandana Wijayasundera RSP USP ndu graced the event as the chief guest.

  • Foundation Laid for One More New House to Deserving Family in Mahavil

    Providing community assistance for the homeless families, foundation stone laying ceremony for construction of another new house for Mr. Sinnathurai Sudan family of Muhavil was held on 08 September 2022, as per the guidance of General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division Major General Prasanna Gunaratne RSP ndu psc IG. The foundation stone was laid by the General Officer Commanding 55 Infantry Division, representative of the donor and the beneficiary amidst the religious blessings according to Hindu rituals.

  • The Programme of Eye Examination, Spectacles Distribution and Distribution of School Shoes for Necessitous Students

    In parallel with the 27th Anniversary of the 512 Infantry Brigade, troops of 512 Infantry Brigade, under command to the 51 Infantry Division of the Security Forces Headquarters (Jaffna),distributed free spectacles to 100 visually-impaired people in Jaffna and Kayts area in close coordination with the Eye Clinic Section at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital on 22nd August 2022.
