  • 55 Division Draughts Tournament 2020 at 551 Brigade, Point Pedro

    551 Brigade along with 4th Battalion Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment and 16 th(Volunteer) Sri Lanka Light Infantry Regiment conducted a Draughts Tournament on 11, 12 and 13 February 2020 in Point Pedro and final matches were held on 13 February 2020. S/101934 Sgt Janaka Kumara A C A clinched the Best player title of the Tournament and S/01668 Pte Pathirana P M I K became the Best Looser of the Tournament, Runner up Team Trophy was bagged by 4th Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment,and Champion team Trophy was conquered by the 552 Brigade.The 552 Brigade clinched the Best Brigade Trophy.

  • A Lecture on the Way Forward for the Professional Development in the Army

    Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna organized a lecture on the way forward for the professional development in the Army on Saturday 01 February 2020 at the Auditorium of the Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna to educate the Officers serving in Jaffna peninsula. A lecture was conducted by Colonel Wipula Chandrasiri, Deputy Commandant Ranaviru Sevana Ragama. More than 100 Officers from different formations in Jaffna area attended the lecture

  • A Lecture on Talent and Skill Development of Children – Parents’ Responsibility

    Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna organized a lecture on Talent and Skill Development of Children – Parents’ Responsibility on Friday 31 January 2020 at the Auditorium of the Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna to educate the Other Ranks serving in Jaffna peninsula. A lecture was conducted by Colonel Vipula Chandrasiri, Deputy Commandant Ranaviru Sevana Ragama. More than 300 Other Ranks from different formations in Jaffna area attended the lecture.

    Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, the Commander Security Forces - Jaffna, paid a field visit to 55 Division Headquarters and under command Brigade Headquarters on 21 and 22 January 2020.

    The Security Forces Commander was warmly welcomed by the General Officer Commanding 55 Division, and conducted a comprehensive briefing on area of responsibilities. The Security Forces Commander addressed the troops and Staff Officers of 55 Division.

    Subsequently, Commander Security Forces - Jaffna visited 553, 552 and 551 Brigade Headquarters under 55 Division. The Security Forces Commander was warmly welcomed by respective Brigade Commanders and conducted briefing on respective areas of responsibilities, and it was followed by troops address at each location.

  • Security Forces - Jaffna Organizes Bodhi Pooja to Bless Disaster Victims

    In a gesture of humanity and compassion towards hundreds of men, women and children that periled due to natural disasters and unforeseen occurrences in the country and across the world, and also to invoke blessings to all Sri Lankans and people of the world in the new year 2020, Headquarters Security Forces Jaffna organized a series of special Bodhi Pooja 14 January evening.

    Following the directives of Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc and with guidance of Commander Security Forces - Jaffna Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, Bodhi Pooja was organized at the Sri Naga Vihara, Navatkuly temple and the Headquarters 55 Division, Kaddaikadu.

  • Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna Commences Duties With New Year Traditions

    With the dawn of year 2020, the Commander, all Officers and Other Ranks of Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna commenced duties for the New Year following military traditions.

    As customary, Commander Security Forces Jaffna Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya hoisted the National Flag prior to the National Anthem and the Army Song being sung. A two minute silence was observed to remember fallen war heroes. Subsequently the oath on the Affirmation of Public Service that defines the government’s ‘Vista of Prosperity and Splendour’, the New Year message of Commander of the Army was read out to everybody. Further, the Security Forces Commander addressed all Officers, Other Ranks, members of Civilian Staff and wished courage and strength to continue their work together with new hopes and success in the New Year. At the end of the programme the Commander Security Forces – Jaffna along with Senior Staff Officers joined with all the Officers and Other Ranks in the all ranks tea party.

  • New Year Begins With A Tree Planting Campaign At Palaly

    With the commencement of duties in the New Year, Security Forces Headquarters – Jaffna organized a tree-planting event at Palaly Covering over an acre of area to plant Artocarpus heterophyllus (Jack) and Madhuca longifolia (Mee) Saplings on 01 January 2020. Commander Security Forces – Jaffna Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya and Senior Staff Officers took part in the tree-planting programme after the New Year traditions held at the headquarters.

  • Commander of the Army Visits Nagadeepa Temple

    Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc Commander of the Sri Lanka Army, paid homage to Nagadeepa Temple and received blessings of the Chief Incumbent during his two days visit to Security Forces (Jaffna) on Saturday 21st September 2019. Commander Security Forces (Jaffna), Major General Ruwan Wanigasooriya, General Officer Commanding 51 Division and several other officers were also present during the visit.
