Official Web Site of the Mechanized Infantry Regiment has launched by the Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen M Hathurusingha RSP ndc IG on 30th June 2014 at AG Branch conference hall. Brigadier AMSP Athapattu, Centre Commandant Brigadier AGDN Jayasundara RWP RSP, Brigde Commander Colonel HMS Herath, Other Council members and Regimental Staff officers participated at the event.

The newly-appointed 8th Centre Commandant of Mechanized Infantry regiment, Colonel LS Balachandra RSP took office on 20th February 2015 at the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre, was greeted with charm military ceremonials with officers and other ranks of the Regiment.

Mechanized Infantry Regiment celebrated its 7th Anniversary in a grand scale parade at the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre on 25th March 2014. The said events were conducted with the participation of Colonel of the Regiment Maj Gen M Hathurusingha RSP ndc IG, Brigadier AMSP Athapattu, Centre Commandant Brigadier AGDN Jayasundara RWP RSP, Brigde Commander Colonel HMS Herath, Regimental Staff and Other Senior Officers.

Colonel Sujith Balachandra, together with Mrs Nayana Balachandra worshiped the sacred Srimaha Bodhi in Anuradhapura on 20th February 2015. Few officers and other ranks also were taken part in the visit. Religious observances were done in front of the the Bodhi and afterwards, the new Commandant paid obeisance to the Srimaha Bodhi offering an Atapirikara.

The foundation stone laying ceremony of new accommodation complex for Other Ranks at the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre was held on 13th March 2015. The Deputy Centre Commandant Lt Col BPGK Balasooriya RSP psc and other Staff Officers were present for this ceremony. It was another milestone for the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre which will be completed within next 02 months.

It was inaugurated by the Centre Commandant for resuming of constructions which were suspended in Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre under the guidance of Colonel of the Regiment and the blessings of Maha Sangha on 1st March 2015.
