  • MAJOR GENERAL AM PERERA RWP RSP psc ASSUMED DUTIES AS 5TH COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT OF MECHANIZED INFANTRY REGIMENT

    Major General AM Perera RWP RSP psc assumed office as the 5th Colonel of the Regiment of Mechanized Infantry Regiment on 15th Oct 2015 in a grandiose ceremony held at Regimental Headquarters,Dambuluhalmillawewa. At the auspicious time, Colonel of the Regiment placed his signature for a formal document to signify the acceptance of duties and responsibilities of the appointment in the presence of Centre Commandant, Brigade Commander, Other Senior Officers, all Commanding Officers and staff of RHQ after a brief religious observances and lighting of the Traditional Oil Lamp.The day's events also textured with a All Ranks Address and Tea Party at Office Complex. Large numbers of officers including Council Members were present to greet the incumbent Colonel of the Regiment.

  • OPENING THE HARITHA PIYASA & THURU PIYASA HOLIDAY BUNGALOWS

    Two holiday resorts, namely "Thuru Piyasa" and "Haritha Piyasa" were also opened by Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe. These resorts are equipped with 8 rooms and a gymnasium.

  • NEW PRESIDENT OF THE MECHANIZED INFANTRY LADIES CLUB ASSUMED DUTIES

    Mrs Thilanthi Perera assumed duties as 4th President of the Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club on 17th October 2015. The ceremony was organized at the Officers Mess, Sri Lanka Armoured Corps, Rock House Camp. Lighting of the traditional oil lamp by the new President Mrs Thilanthi Perera and senior members of the Ladies Club denoted the commencement of the day's proceedings. President and All members observed a minute silence to commemorate War Heroes who sacrifice their lives for the motherland at the outset of the event.

    New President Mrs Thilanthi Perera addressed members, made a brief description of the initiatives she wishes to implement during her tenure as the President of Ladies Club. She explained that her priority is with providing benefits to the war heroes and their families and requested the assistance of all members to make her efforts a success. Senior Members of the Ladies Club were presence at the auspicious time extending her warm wishes to the new president.

  • OPENING THE ORS' MESS AND BILLET

    The newly constructed other ranks (OR\'s) mess and billets were opened by Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, fulfilling a needy requirement of the other ranks at RHQ MIR.

  • OPENING THE COS' CHALETS

    5 chalets, one each for the Commanding Officers of all MIR Battalions serving elsewhere were declared opened by Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Colonel of the Regiment, MIR.

  • LADIES CLUB ANNUAL ORS' GET - TO GATHER 2015 AND FAREWELL TO MRS DHAMMIKA HATHURUSINGHE

    The Ladies Club Annual ORs Get-together was held at the Mechanized Infantry Regimental Centre on 27 Sep 2015. Also this event was conducted as a farewell ceremony to Mrs Dhammika Hathurusinghe, who would relinquish her duties as the Chairperson, MIR Ladies Club. The President addressed all members and ORs families on how they achieved and success their past events.\r\n During the event, several donations were also made to the RHQ MIR by the Ladies Club. A donation of Rs 1 million was made for the purchase of musical instruments to the MIR musical band. A three-wheel was also donated for the use of all ranks at the RHQ MIR on the same occasion. A photo copy machine worth Rs. 200,000/= and several computers were also donated for office use RHQ MIR. A Guava project was also launched as a fund raising project for the Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club. At the end of the get-together, gift parcels were given to the participants in the get-together.

  • THE LADIES CLUB VISIT TO

    The Mechanized Infantry Ladies Club members, headed by the President Mrs Thilanthi Perera, visited to Horana "Gaman Sewana" mother's home on 29 November 2015 to donate essentials.

    The President and ladies club members interacted with the inmates and spoke to them separately with a view to learning about their well-being and other requirements. Afterwards, the President and ladies club members gifted clothes, fruit packets and other required items to the "Gaman Sewana" mother's home'.
