NEW COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT ASSUMED DUTIES

Maj Gen S W B Welagedara RSP VSV USP ndc assumed duties as the 24th Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch on 22nd June 2023 in Regimental Centre of the Gemunu Watch, Kuruwita. Subsequently, on 24th June 2023 the remainder of the programme was commenced in accordance with the military traditions and religious observances, where new Colonel of the Regiment was honored with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honor.

FAREWELL CEREMONY FOR OUT GOING COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT MAJOR GENERAL EADP EDIRISINGHE psc ACCORDED MILITARY SALUTE

The farewell ceremony for Major General EADP Edirisinghe psc was held at the Regiment Centre on 18 June 2023 at the occasion of his retirement after completing over 34 years of successful service in the Sri Lanka Army.

The Regimental Centre welcomed the Chief Guest and invited him to review the Guard turnout at the entrance. Subsequently, the ceremonial commemoration of fallen soldiers took place at the monument. Then Chief Guest was accompanied to the salute of the proud, dignified parade at the Regimental parade Square.

FAREWELL NIGHT

The Regimental Centre ushered a Dinner Night on 16 June 2023 for retired Highlanders, Brigadier R B Benjamin RSP USP, Brigadier A M S Premawansa RWP RSP USP and suppose to retire Brigadier A M Muttalib. Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch Maj Gen E A D P Edirisinghe psc, delivered the customary farewell speech on behalf of all Officers of the Gemunu Watch to extend the deep sense of gratitude and appreciation of the service of these senior officers .

THE REGIMENTAL CENTER IS NOURISHED WITH FRUITS AND SPICES PLANTING

As per the concept of Colonel of the Regiment, Major General Prasad Edirisinghe psc, The Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch launched a fruits and spices tree planting campaign in 21 May 2023 at the camp premises with the participation of the staff and troops. Colonel of the Regiment inaugurated the programme and total number of 160 fruit and spices plants wereplanted at the event and dedication of the growth of the plants for individualsis significant in the programme.

FAREWELL CEREMONY FOR BRIGADIER P D A G SENADEERA USP AND BRIGADIER M K S S P JAYASINGHE RWP RSP ACCORDED MILITARY SALUTE

The farewell ceremony for Brigadier P D A G Senadeera USP and Brigadier M K S S P Jayasinghe RWP RSP was held at the Regiment Centre on 08 April 2023 at the occasion of their retirement after completing over 33 years of successful service in the Sri Lanka Army.

COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT VISITS THE GEMUNU WATCH BATTALIONS

Colonel of the Regiment, Major General EADP Edirisinghe psc, visited Gemunu Watch battalions in SFHQ(J), SFHQ (MLT) theaters which included 17 GW, 2 (v) GW, 16 (v) GW, 23 GW, 6 GW, 19 GW and 11 GW from 27 March to 31 March 2023. Further, he also visited 7 GW at Mattakkuliya on 4th April and 8 GW and RHQ Bn at Kuruvita on 5th April During the visit, he addressed troops and the officers of the battalions.
