THE BLESSINGS OF THE GOD OF SAMAN IS THERE WITH THE GEMUNU WATCH

It is a tradition as such the Gemunu Watch troops bring the sacred Karaduwa and Abahrana of God of Saman to Sri Padhaya and bring them back to Erathna and Palapaththala entrances at the end of the Sri Padha session. With the participation of more than 100 troops from the Regimental Centre, sacred Karaduwa and Abahrana of God of Saman was brought back on 6 May 2023 to Palapaththala and Erathna entrances and Colonel of the Regiment, Senior officers of the Regimental Centre received the sacred items at the Palapaththala entrance and handed over to the relevant authorities.

FAREWELL CEREMONY FOR MAJOR GENERAL AC LAMAHEWA WWV RWP RSP ACCORDED MILITARY SALUTE

The farewell ceremony for Major General A C Lamahewa WWV RWP RSP Former Director General Infantry and Colonel of the Regiment the Gemunu Watch was held at the Regiment Centre on 02nd March 2023.The occasion of his retirement after completion over 35 years of successful service in Sri Lanka Army.

THE GEMUNU WATCH ACCORD GUARD OF HONOUR TO VISITING CHAIRMAN JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF COMMITTEE, PAKISTAN

General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI (M) Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Pakistan arrived in Sri Lanka for a five day visit. At the cordial invitation extended by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Shavendra Silva WWV RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, the visiting General and the entourage arrived in the island the morning hours on 09th February 2023

THE NEWLY APPOINTED REGIMENTAL ADJUTANT ASSUMED THE OFFICE

A formal ceremony was taken place to mark the assuming of the office of the newly appointed Regimental Adjutant, the Gemunu Watch Major R A D N P K Ranaweera RWP RSP psc on 11th January 2023 as the Regimental Adjutant.

The incoming Adjutant was welcomed by all the Officers and Other Rankers of the Regimental Centre, the Gemunu Watch. The newly posted Adjutant assumed office, took over the duties amid religious observances and expressed his vision. All the Officers and Other Rankers of the Gemunu Watch extended their best wishes to the newly appointed Regimental Adjutant.

THE NEWLY APPOINTED DEPUTY CENTRE COMMANDANT ASSUMED THE OFFICE

A formal ceremony was taken place to mark the assuming of the office of newly appointed Deputy Centre Commandant-Regimental Headquarters the Gemunu Watch Colonel W G I S Gamage USP on 04th January 2023 as the Deputy Centre Commandant.

The incoming Deputy Centre Commandant was welcomed by all the Officers and Other Rankers of the Regimental Headquarters, the Gemunu Watch, and assumed office and took over the duties amid the religious observances.

THE NEWLY CONSTRUCTED “HIGHLANDERS’ TEA HOUSE" WAS DECLARED OPEN AT REGIMENTAL CENTRE THE GEMUNU WATCH

The newly constructed “Highlanders’ Tea House” was declared open at Regimental Centre The Gemunu Watch on 14 December 2022 under the patronage of Col of the Regiment The Gemunu Watch and Director General Infantry Major General AC Lamahewa WWV RWP RSP . The event to open the “Highlanders’ Tea House” was attended by the Centre Commandant Brigadier WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP and several senior officials from the Gemunu Watch.

OFFICERS’ TRAINING DAY OF THE GEMUNU WATCH - STAGE II 2022

Officers Training Day of the Gemunu Watch is intended to improve the Officers’ knowledge on Military and Non Military subjects which presumed as inevitable to enhance the professionalism of the Officers. The second session of Training Day of the year 2022 was held on 14 December 2022 at the Regimental Centre with the participation of Senior and Middle Grade Officers.

The Centre Commandant welcomed all Officers on behalf of the Colonel of the Regiment and explained the importance and the value of the event as an important and special event in the Regimental event calendar.
