THE 3RD GROUP OF THE COMBAT CONVOY COMPANY , LEFT THE SRI LANKA FROM BIA

The 3rd group of 4th pace of the Combat Convoy Company (CCC) 3 officers and 40 other rankers left Sri Lanka Wednesday (August 17, 2022) to serve in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).

The Mali (Phase IV) contingent of 243 troops of 12 Regiments of the Army leaved the country according to the three stages and the present contingent command by Col. Chandana Jayamaha.

Major U K D L K Udugama RWP RSP USP assumed duties as the 7th Commanding Officer 19th Battalion the Gemunu Watch on 01 June 2022. A brief ceremony was held which included Religious observances and Troops Address in accordance with the heath protocol and guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the Army Headquarters.

TAKING OVER DUTIES AS THE COMMANDING OFFICER OF THE 17TH BATTALION THE GEMUNU WATCH

Major M S A Wijayadasa RSP psc assumed duties as the 7th Commanding Officer 17th Battalion the Gemunu Watch on 02 June 2022. A brief ceremony was held which included Religious observances and Troops Address in accordance with the heath protocol and guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the Army Headquarters.

Major LN Karunathilake RSP USP assumed duties as the 31 Commanding Officer 1st Battalion the Gemunu Watch on 01 June 2022. A brief ceremony was held which included Religious observances, and Troops Address in accordance with the heath protocol and guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the Army Headquarters.

SRI PADA SEASON ENDED

After traditional rituals Udamaluwa, the caskets of sacred relics ('Sadhatuka Karaduwa') and 'Sri Sumana Saman' God statue which were placed at upper courtyard of 'Sripadasthana’ were got under way from Udamaluwa to Sri Palabaddala Viharaya under moving charitable work on 17 May 2022.

The Gemunu Watch troops have been leading this religious ceremony annually.

A large number of devotees visited the Sri Pada Maluwa and more devotees were seen alongside the roads awaiting the opportunity to pay homage to the relics casket and the statue of God Saman.

FAREWELL CEREMONY FOR MAJOR GENERAL P M L CHANDRASIRI WWV RWP RSP ndu ACCORDED MILITARY SALUTE

The farewell ceremony for Major General P M L Chandrasiri WWV RWP RSP ndu, Former Commander - Security forces East , and Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch was held at the Regiment Centre on 07th May 2022.The occasion of his retirement after completion over 35 years of successful service in Sri Lanka Army.

4TH CCC CONTINGENT FOR MALI READY FOR DEPARTURE

A neatly-organized military ceremony at the Gemunu Watch (GW) Regimental Headquarters at Kuruwita, Ratnapura this morning (4) laid a red carpet welcome to the Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Army, General Shavendra Silva when he arrived there as the Chief Guest to receive the formal salute of the 4th contingent of 243 Army personnel, set to leave to serve in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).
