ONE MORE NEW HOUSE HANDED OVER TO ARMY SOLDIER

As part of ongoing Commander’s special housing project of the Army, a new house built by 7 GW troops’ with the supervision of Regimental Centre of the Gemunu Watch was symbolically handed over to L/Cpl Abesinghe HM 7GW, by the Centre Commandant GW Brigadier JMRNK Jayamanna RWP at the invitation of CO 7GW on 04th June 2021 at Nagoda, Kaluthara.

The new house, valued at 1.5 million was built on a plot of land provided by the beneficiary.

HIGHLANDERS EXCELLED IN DEFENCE SERVICERS GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP 2021

S/420825 Cpl Pushpakumara GWAD of 1 GW became 1st runner up in the open event representing the Army Golf Team during the Defence Services’ Golf Tournament 2021.Tournerment was held at the Sri Lanka Air Force Golf Course in Trincomalee. Cpl Pushpakumara GWAD and S/ 426473 L/Cpl Sanath Chandra HS (4 GW) represented the Sri Lanka Army Golf Team which became the runners up in the Team championship. Col of the Regiment and all highlanders of Gemunu watch congratulate them for their achievements.

GAMUNU WATCH BECAME CHAMPIONS IN SRI LANKA ARMY INTER REGIMENT GOLF TOURNAMENT 2021

Team Highlanders became Champions in the Sri Lanka Army Inter Regiment Golf Tournament 2021 beating 17 teams. Tournament was organized by the Sri Lanka Army Golf Association. It was held at the Sri Lanka Army Golf Course in Diyatalawa on 3rd and 4th April 2021. Brigadier JMC Jayaweera RSP psc became the runner up in over 40 Category. Gemunu team was represented by Brig JMC Jayaweera RSP psc, S/420825 Cpl Puspakumara PWAD (1GW), S/430509 Cpl Prasanga KGI (1GW), S/426473 L/Cpl Sanathchandra HLS (4 GW).

COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT MAJOR GENERAL HPNK JAYAPATHIRANE RSP ACCORDED MILITARY SALUTE DURING RETIREMENT CEREOMONY

A farewell ceremony for Major General HPNK Jayapathirane RSP, Commander Security Force (Central), and Colonel of the Regiment of Gemunu Watch (GW) was held at the Regiment Centre on 23 and 25 February 2021 to mark his retirement after completion nearly 35 years of service in Sri Lanka Army. Farewell Ceremony was consisted with ceremonial commemoration for fallen war heroes at the monument, Group photograph with regimental staff officers and Troop address. Further, a Guard turnout at the main entrance and accompanied to take the salute of the Gemunu Watch Guard of Honour parade.

FELICITATION CEREMONY FOR MAJ GEN PML CHANDRASIRI WWV RWP RSP ndu, MAJ GEN AADNSP DUNUWILA RWP RSP USP, MAJ GEN MWAA WIJESURIYA RWP RSP USP AND MAJ GEN AC LAMAHEWA WWV RWP RSP

Maj Gen Lal Chandrasiri is a proud product of Thurstan College-Colombo. After the successful completion of primary and secondary education, he joined the Sri Lanka Army Regular Force in 1987 and underwent training with the Intake 28 at the Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyatalawa.

After the successful completion of the basic military training, he was commissioned in the rank of Second Lieutenant and was posted to the 4th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch as a Platoon Commander. He also served as the Company Commander of amalgamated 4/12 GW and 5/7 GW.

DEFENCE ATTACHES VISIT REGIMENTAL CENTRE THE GEMUNU WATCH

The Defence Attaches of Australia, Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Pakistan, Russia and USA visited Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch on 20 December 2020 on their way back to Colombo after attending to passing out parade at SLMA - Diyatalawa.

Centre Comdt of GW Brigadier Roshan Jayamanna RWP welcomed the delegation and accompanied them to officers’ mess to tea. Coordinating Officers of the delegation and Regimental Staff Officers of GW also attended in the short event.

A farewell ceremony for Major General BVDP Abeynayake USP ndu, Commander Security Force (West), and Colonel of the Regiment of Gemunu Watch (GW) was held at the Regiment Centre on 10 December 2020 his retirement after completion over 35 years of service in Sri Lanka Army.
