TAKING OVER DUTIES AS THE COMMANDING OFFICER OF THE 1ST BATTALION THE GEMUNU WATCH

Major LN Karunathilake RSP USP assumed duties as the 31 Commanding Officer 1st Battalion the Gemunu Watch on 01 June 2022. A brief ceremony was held which included Religious observances, and Troops Address in accordance with the heath protocol and guidelines of the Ministry of Health and the Army Headquarters.

Major LN Karunathilake RSP USP was joined the Sri Lanka Army as an Officer Cadet of Sri Lanka Military Academy with Regular Intake 51 on 14th January 2000. Upon completion of successful military training, he was commissioned as Second Lieutenant on 29th December 2001 and was posted to prestigious 1st Battalion the Gemunu Watch.

During his illustrious military career he rendered his service in various command, Instructor, and staff appointments and performed effectively, serving in almost all operational areas of the country, as a platoon commander, Company Commander, in the 1st Battalion of the Gemunu Watch, 2nd in Command in 1st Battalion of the Gemunu Watch.

All Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment Centre extended their warm wishes to newly appointed Commanding officer and wished him for a healthy, wealthy, peaceful and prosperous life.
