NEW COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT ASSUMED DUTIES

Maj Gen S W B Welagedara RSP VSV USP ndc assumed duties as the 24th Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch on 22nd June 2023 in Regimental Centre of the Gemunu Watch, Kuruwita. Subsequently, on 24th June 2023 the remainder of the programme was commenced in accordance with the military traditions and religious observances, where new Colonel of the Regiment was honored with a Guard Turnout and a Guard of Honor.

Maj Gen Wajira Welagedara is a proud product of the Dharmaraja College - Kandy and he joined the Sri Lanka Army Regular Force in 1988 as an officer cadet with Intake 29. He has served in the Army for more than 35 years in many important appointments and presently, he serves as the General Officer Commanding , 51 Infantry Division.
