FAREWELL CEREMONY FOR OUT GOING COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT MAJOR GENERAL EADP EDIRISINGHE psc ACCORDED MILITARY SALUTE

The farewell ceremony for Major General EADP Edirisinghe psc was held at the Regiment Centre on 18 June 2023 at the occasion of his retirement after completing over 34 years of successful service in the Sri Lanka Army.

The Regimental Centre welcomed the Chief Guest and invited him to review the Guard turnout at the entrance. Subsequently, the ceremonial commemoration of fallen soldiers took place at the monument. Then Chief Guest was accompanied to the salute of the proud, dignified parade at the Regimental parade Square.

Moreover, to mark the event a group photograph was taken and a tea party was arranged at the swimming pool premises to highlight the event. Towards the end of the day’s program, a farewell dinner was arranged at the Officer's Mess premises. Further, Chief Gust were accompanied to Dinner at the Officer's Mess by incomingColonel of the Regiment Major General SWB Welagedara RSP VSV USP ndc.

Furthermore, incoming Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch, has delivered the customary farewell speech on behalf of all Officers of the Gemunu Watch to extend the deep sense of gratitude and appreciation of the service of Major General E A D P Edirisinghe psc. During the farewell speech, Maj Gen SWB Welagedara has recalled some of the salient achievements and milestones of Major General Prasad Edirisinghe and some memories as well. In addition, the farewell speech highly esteemed his great wishes to Mrs. Shalika Edirisinghe the charming spouse of Maj Gen Prasad Edirisinghe.

Finally a special retirement gift and a photo album were presented to Major General Prasad Edirisinghe by incoming Colonel of the Regiment in appreciation of dedicated services rendered to the Regiment.

All Officers and Other Ranks of the Regiment Centre extended their heartfelt gratitude to outgoing Highlander, for his commitment and dedication to the Gemunu Watch and wished him for a healthy, wealthy, peaceful and prosperous life.
