The Gemunu Watch Regiment hosted 'Felicitation Ceremony' to newly promoted Major General E A D P Edirisingha psc and Major General S N Samarawickrama KSP with the directions of The Commander Security Forces– (East) and Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch Major General PML Chandrasiri WWV RWP RSP ndu to congratulate in conformity with military traditions.
The Gemunu Watch, one of the most prestigious infantry Regiment in the Sri Lanka Army commemorated its 34th Anniversary on 19 March 2022 at the Regimental Centre, with series of events adding grandeur and patriotic sentiments to its proud history. This celebration was the climax of the series of commutative anniversary ceremonies that got underway during the last week together with observing multi religious observance to invoke the blessing to the Regiment and Alms giving Ceremony for 34 Buddhist Monks at Home of Highlanders
The Gemunu Watch bid farewell to the outgoing commander 1 Corps and Colonel of the Regiment of Special Forces Major General H P Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndc.
Whist executing the brainchild of Mrs Geeetha Athokorale Chandrasiri the president Seva Vanitha branch of the Gemunu Watch, the fourth stage of the ongoing program of donating school items for 26 school children of Gemunu Watch “Ranaviru” and Civil-worker families as well as essential items for the 12 pregnant ladies of Gemunu Watch “Ranaviru” families in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa districts, was held at Anuradapura Central Collage auditorium on 27th February 2022 in collaboration with 21 Infantry Division, 211 Infantry Brigade and 11, 19, 10 (V), 15 ( V) Battalions of the Gemunu Watch.
Inter Battalion Novices Taekwondo Tournament 2022, organized by the Gemunu Watch in keeping with directions of Major General PML Chandrasiri WWV RWP RSP ndu, the Security force Commander (East) and Colonel of the Regiment the Gemunu Watch was held at indoor stadium in the Regimental Centre of the Gemunu Watch Kuruvita. Chairmen of the Army Taekwondo Committee Brigadier KJNMPK Nawarathna RWP RSP of the Gemunu Watch spearheaded the conduct of the tournament.
Inter Battalion Novices Taekwondo Tournament 2022, organized by the Gemunu Watch in keeping with directions of Major General PML Chandrasiri WWV RWP RSP ndu, the Security force Commander (East) and Colonel of the Regiment the Gemunu Watch was held at W. Wimaladasa indoor stadium in the Regimental Centre of the Gemunu Watch Kuruvita on 21- 23 February 2022.
First ever in the history of proud Gemunu Watch, Brigadier S N Samarawikrama KSP of Gemunu Watch under Volunteer Force, was elevated to the rank of ‘Major General’ together with the prestigious appointment of the first ever Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force representing the Gemunu Watch on 15 February 2022.
Commanding Officers' Conference of the Gemunu Watch presided by Colonel of the Regiment Major General PML Chandrasiri WWV RWP RSP ndu was held at the Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch Kuruwita on 06 February 2022. All Commanding Officers and Staff Officers of the Regimental Centre were among the participants.
The conference began with a noteworthy briefing delivered on the carrier progression of officers, the current mechanism, and evaluating system of Officers’ Carrier Development plan by Maj Gen EADP Edirisinghe psc on the invitation of Colonel of the Regiment.
The Regimental Council meeting of the Gemunu Watch was held at the Regimental Headquarters of the Gemunu Watch on 05 February 2022 under the patronage of Col of the Regt, Major General PML Chandrasiri WWV RWP RSP ndu.
