COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT MAJOR GENERAL W L P W PERERA RWP RSP ndu ACCORDED MILITARY SALUTE DURING RETIREMENT CEREOMONY

A farewell ceremony for Major General W L P W PERERA RWP RSP ndu, 58th Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and 20th Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch was held at the Regiment Centre on 04 December 2021, his retirement after completion over 35 years of service in Sri Lanka Army.

Major General Priyantha Perera was born on 07 December 1966 and he is a proud product of Isipathana Collage Colombo. He joined the Sri Lanka Army regular force on 06 June 1986 with Intake 24 and commissioned on 22 January 1987, subsequently he posted to the 5th Battalion the Gemunu Watch.

A farewell ceremony for Major General SS Waduge RWP RSP USP ndu psc, 46th Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force, Commander of the Sri Lanka Army Training Command and 19th Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch was held at the Regiment Centre on 05 October 2021, on his retirement after completion over 35 years of service in Sri Lanka Army.

MAJ GEN W L P W PERERA RWP RSP ndu, NEW ARMY CHIEF OF STAFF ASSUMES DUTIES

Major General Priyantha Perera of Gemunu Watch assumed office as the 58th Chief of Staff of the Army during a simple ceremony at his new office in the Army Headquarters, on 20th July 2021 amid religious observances, greetings and best wishes.

Soon after his arrival, he made religious offerings to the Buddha and performed observances. As members of the Maha Sangha commenced ‘Pirith’ chanting to invoke blessings on the new office, the new Chief of Staff left his signature for an official document to signify the acceptance of his new office.

COLONEL OF THE REGIMENT MAJOR GENERAL W G H A S BANDARA RWP RSP ndu ACCORDED MILITARY SALUTE DURING RETIREMENT CEREOMONY

A farewell ceremony for Major General WGHAS BANDARA RWP RSP ndu, 57th Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army and Colonel of the Regiment of Gemunu Watch was held at the Regiment Centre on 16 July 2021, his retirement after completion over 35 years of service in Sri Lanka Army.

Major General Senarath Bandara was born on 17 July 1966 and he is a proud product of the Vidyartha College Kandy. He joined the Sri Lanka Army on 17 January 1986 with Intake SSC 10 and commissioned on 10th December 1986, subsequently he posted to the 4th Battalion the Gemunu Watch.

SRI PADA SEASON ENDED

After traditional rituals Udamaluwa, the caskets of sacred relics ('Sadhatuka Karaduwa') and 'Sri Sumana Saman' God statue which were placed at upper courtyard of 'Sripadasthana’ were got under way from udamaluwa to Sri palabaddala Viharaya under moving charitable work on 27 May 2021.

Due to present Corona Pandemic situation this event was held under strict Covid-19 health guideline.

ONE MORE NEW HOUSE HANDED OVER TO WAR HERO

As part of ongoing Commander’s special housing project of the Army, a new house built by 4 GW troops’ with the supervision of Regimental Centre of the Gemunu Watch was symbolically handed over to disabled soldier WOII (Retd) Alahapperuma NVK - 4GW by the Centre Commandant GW Brigadier JMRNK Jayamanna RWP at the invitation of CO 4GW on 04th June 2021 at Dharga Town, Aluthgama.

The new house, valued at 1.5 million was built on a plot of land provided by the beneficiary.

ONE MORE NEW HOUSE HANDED OVER TO ARMY SOLDIER

As part of ongoing Commander’s special housing project of the Army, a new house built by 7 GW troops’ with the supervision of Regimental Centre of the Gemunu Watch was symbolically handed over to L/Cpl Abesinghe HM 7GW, by the Centre Commandant GW Brigadier JMRNK Jayamanna RWP at the invitation of CO 7GW on 04th June 2021 at Nagoda, Kaluthara.

The new house, valued at 1.5 million was built on a plot of land provided by the beneficiary.
