The Commander of ARTRAC Major General SS Waduge RWP RSP USP ndu psc assumed duties as the 19th Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch on 22 July 2021 under the patronage of religious observances at the office of the Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch, Kuruwita.
The programme was commenced in accordance with military traditions; Major General SS Waduge RWP RSP USP ndu psc was welcomed by the Centre Commandant of the Gemunu Watch and received the traditional guard turn out at the main entrance. Subsequently received the salute presented by Gemunu Watch troops at the parade square. The charming and proud, dignified military Guard of Honour was reviewed by the newly appointed Colonel of the Regiment and was accompanied by the Parade Commander together with Centre Commandant in accordance with military traditions.
The commemoration of war heroes at the monument was held customary and took over the responsibilities of the Colonel of the Regiment of the Gemunu Watch followed by all ranks tea organized at the Swimming Pool premises. Thereafter, Major General SS Waduge RWP RSP USP ndu psc addressed all ranks at the Highlanders Paradise hall.
Major General SS Waduge RWP RSP USP ndu psc is a proud product of H/Thissamaharama Vidayalaya. He joined the Sri Lanka Army on 02 June 1986 with Intake KDA-04 and was trained at Kotelawala Defence Academy. He was commissioned on 17 June 1988 and posted to 5th Battalion of the Gemunu Watch.
