Inter Battalion Novices Taekwondo Tournament 2022, organized by the Gemunu Watch in keeping with directions of Major General PML Chandrasiri WWV RWP RSP ndu, the Security force Commander (East) and Colonel of the Regiment the Gemunu Watch was held at indoor stadium in the Regimental Centre of the Gemunu Watch Kuruvita. Chairmen of the Army Taekwondo Committee Brigadier KJNMPK Nawarathna RWP RSP of the Gemunu Watch spearheaded the conduct of the tournament.
The first, second and third round matches were conducted on 21 February 2022 and were followed by the Quarter final and semifinal matches as well. 4th Battalion the Gemunu Watch clinched the Championship and 17th Battalion the Gemunu Watch players were declared the runners up of the tournament. The best fighter trophy was won by S/432640 Pte Balasooriya APSS from 17th Battalion the Gemunu Watch.
The Rector of the Southern Campus of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Major General Prasad Edirisinghe was the Chief Guest of the closing ceremony of the Inter battalion Taekwondo tournament of the Gemunu Watch held on 23 February 2022 at Regimental Centre the Gemunu Watch. All senior officers, Officers, Sport officers of the Battalions along with many other ranks also attended for this remarkable event.
