The Gemunu Watch, one of the most prestigious infantry Regiment in the Sri Lanka Army commemorated its 34th Anniversary on 19 March 2022 at the Regimental Centre, with series of events adding grandeur and patriotic sentiments to its proud history. This celebration was the climax of the series of commutative anniversary ceremonies that got underway during the last week together with observing multi religious observance to invoke the blessing to the Regiment and Alms giving Ceremony for 34 Buddhist Monks at Home of Highlanders
The day’s Chief Guest, Major General PML Chandrasiri WWV RWP RSP ndu was warmly welcomed by the Centre Commandant Brigadier WBJK Wimalaratne RWP RSP upon his arrival. Then The Chief Guest was greeted with a Guard turnout in accordance with military formalities at the entrance of the Gemunu Watch Regimental Centre. Afterward, he was ushered to accept the salute by a Guard of Honour at parade ground. Subsequently Colonel of the Regiment offered floral tribute to the fallen war heroes of the tribe who made supreme sacrifice in the name of our motherland. After all of this event, Colonel of the Regiment sat for a group photograph with all officers, and a special tea table, organized for all ranks at Regimental headquarters and hosted at swimming pool premises the same day. Subsequently, the Colonel of the Regiment customary address to all troops in the Regimental centre the Gemunu Watch and Commemorative ceremony reached its end with a lunch in the premises with all invited Officers.
