  • ASSUMING DUTIES OF THE DEPUTY CENTRE COMMANDANT - REGIMENT OF ARTILLERY

    Colonel D P L T Kaluaggala RSP USP IG assumed duties as the Deputy Centre Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery on 28 November 2024 at Regimental Headquarters, Panagoda.

  • 55 INFANTRY DIVISION’S NEW GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING ASSUMED OFFICE

    Major General BGS Fernando USP Hdmc psc assumed duties as the 28th General Officer Commanding of the 55 Infantry Division in a brief ceremony held at the Division Headquarters in Kilinochchi on 22 November 2024. The event commenced with welcoming the GOC by the Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers, followed by a Guard Turnout and Gaurd of honour.

  • 7 LIGHT REGIMENT CELEBRATED 36TH ANNIVERSARY

    The 7 Light Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery marked its 36th Anniversary through a sequence of events, following its establishment on 10 November 1988. The festivities kicked off with a Sharamadhana campaign to collect non bio degradable waste materials left at the Minneriya tank bund area and either side of the A11 Habarana - Batticaloa main road from Rotawewa junction to camp premises which was held on 31 October 2024. Then an Inter Battery Cricket Tournament was organized to strengthen the comradeship among the light gunners, with the aim of fostering team spirit, cooperation, togetherness and boosting moral on 07 November 2024. Thereafter, the Flag Blessing at Minnneriya Dewalaya and a Bodhi Pooja at the camp premises were held to invoke the blessing for the Regiment on 08 November 2024 as religious observances.

  • THE PASSING OUT PARADE OF THE POST DEPOT COURSE FD -227

    The passing out parade of the Post Depot Course FD – 227 was successfully held on 28 September 2024 at School of Artillery, Minneriya. There were 49 well motivated soldiers joined the 'Gunners Family' after successful completion of 03 months strenuous training.

  • GRADUATION CEREMONY AND DINNER NIGHT OF YOUNG OFFICERS’ COURSE 49

    On 14 September 2024, twelve young officers took their first step into the proud and prestigious family of professional Gunners as they graduated from the Artillery Young Officers Course 49, conducted from 12 June 2024 to 14 September 2024 at the School of Artillery, Minneriya.

  • MAJOR GENERAL K A U KODITHUWAKKU RSP USP psc IG ASSUMED DUTIES AS THE GENERAL OFFICER COMMANDING OF THE 11 INFANTRY DIVISION

    Major General K A U Kodithuwakku RSP USP psc IG assumed duties as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 11 Infantry Division on 06 August 2024 at the Division Headquarters in Pallekele, Kandy. The formal ceremony commenced with a review of the Guard Turnout, as an emblematic gesture of taking over the Command. Following that, Major General K A U Kodithuwakku RSP USP psc IG placed is signature on a formal document after a brief religious observance. The event also featured an all-ranks tea, attended by Brigade Commanders, Staff Officers of HQ 11 Division, and Commanding Officers.

  • Charity Project; Offering Dinner (almsgiving) for Children reside at Sanhida Pandukalasa Teaching Center (Children's Home) and Shramadana Campaign: The Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery Initiative

    Upon the initiative and guidance of Commander Security Forces (Central) and Colonel Commandant of the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery Major General B K G M L Rodrigo RSP psc IG, the Regiment of Sri Lanka Artillery organized a charity project by offering dinner (almsgiving) for the Children reside at Sanhida Pandukalasa Teaching Center (Children's Home) and Shramadana Campaign on 08 September 2024 in accordance with the celebration of 75 Anniversary of Sri Lanka Army.

  • ARTILLERY ROARS AT FIELD FIRING RANGE – TEMPITIYA

    In accordance with the training directive for the year 2024, the School of Artillery successfully commenced the second stage of Artillery deployment and live firing exercise at the Field Firing Range - Tempitiya, from 29 August to 04 September 2024. The artillery equipment fired included 120 mm mortars, 122 mm howitzers, 130 mm guns, 152 mm gun howitzers, and 122 mm (MBRL). Most remarkably, the 122 mm (MBRL) made its grand return, firing for the first time since 2009.
