Sri Lanka Artillery Clinches Overall Championship at the 59th Army Road Race – 2026

Athletes of the Sri Lanka Artillery delivered an exceptional performance at the 59th Army Road Race – 2026 held on Sunday morning (March 8). Demonstrating remarkable endurance, determination, and team spirit, the Sri Lanka Artillery team dominated the event and emerged as the Overall Champions, continuously for the 3rd time, securing the total score of 65 marks.

The race commenced from the Army Headquarters premises and concluded at APTS, Panagoda, where athletes from various regiments competed in the demanding road race. The Sri Lanka Artillery athletes showcased outstanding athletic ability and discipline, securing several top positions and bringing pride and honour to the Regiment.

The exceptional performances of the Sri Lanka Artillery athletes are as follows:

  2. S/A100462 Sgt Shammugeshwaran K – 2nd Place
  3. S/5A02987 WO II Pushpakumara RMS - 11th Place
  4. S/164705 L/Bdr Alwis ABN - 18th Place
  5. S/159006 S/Sgt Somarathna TPB – 33rd Place
  6. S/164951 L/Bdr Hemantha AMT - 60th Place
  7. S/165705 L/bdr Madusahanka RMA – 63rd Place

The Colonel Commandant, Senior Officers, and all ranks of the Sri Lanka Artillery extend their heartfelt congratulations to the winning team for their outstanding achievement at the 59th Army Road Race – 2026. Their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to excellence have brought great pride to the Regiment and continue to uphold the proud traditions of the Gunners.
