A Special Capacity Building Programme for Junior and Middle Grade Officers was successfully conducted at the Security Force Headquarters (Wanni) with the objective of enhancing the professional knowledge, leadership qualities and overall competencies of officers serving under its command.
The programme was held from 12 January 2026 to 24 January 2026 at the 3D Lecture Hall, Security Force Headquarters (Wanni). A total of 24 Junior and Middle Grade Officers, representing formations under the command of Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni) participated in the programme.
The course was conducted in line with the concept of the Commander of the Army and under the close supervision of Major General K M P S B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni).
As part of the programme, Diners’ Club session was organized under the guidance of the Commander, Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni), with the aim of enhancing the professional military understanding and leadership perspectives of officers. The session titled “The Needed Leadership for Leaders in the 21st Century” was conducted by Major General M W S Millagala RWP RSP USP Hdmc psc, General Officer Commanding 59 Infantry Division.
The programme featured a series of interactive lectures, group discussions and practical sessions designed to prepare officers to effectively face contemporary operational challenges while upholding the core values and proud traditions of the Sri Lanka Army.
The closing address was delivered by Major General K M P S B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, who emphasized the importance of continuous professional development, adaptive leadership, and ethical responsibility in modern military service.
This initiative reflects the Sri Lanka Army’s continued commitment to developing well-rounded, competent and socially responsible officers and is expected to make a significant contribution towards enhancing the operational effectiveness of formations under the Security Forces Headquarters (Wanni).
