COMMANDER, SECURITY FORCE HEADQUARTERS (WANNI), COMMENDS TROOPS FOR EXEMPLARY SERVICE DURING CYCLONE DITVA RESPONSE

The impact of Cyclone Ditva caused extensive damage to lives and property across the island, placing significant strain on affected communities. In response, the Sri Lanka Army extended unwavering support through rescue, relief, and reconstruction efforts, earning widespread appreciation from the public. The Commander, Security Force Headquarters (Wanni), Major General K M P S B Kulatunga RSP ndc psc, expressed his deep appreciation for the dedication, sacrifice, and professionalism displayed by Army personnel and civil staff in assisting the people during and after the disaster.

In recognition of these commendable efforts, Major General K M P S B Kulatunga visited the 56 Infantry Division on 17 December 2025. Upon arrival, he was accorded a ceremonial guard of honour and was warmly received by Major General S A U A Solangaarachchi RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding 56 Infantry Division. Addressing the gathering, the Commander conveyed his sincere gratitude to all ranks and civil employees for their tireless service, emphasizing that their commitment played a vital role in restoring normalcy and supporting the national recovery process.

A formal tea reception was held to welcome the Commander, SFHQ (w) attended by Brigade Commanders, Commanding Officers of subordinate units, senior officers, commissioned officers, and non-commissioned officers. Approximately 35 officers and over 200 troops, together with civil staff, participated in the event. During the occasion, the Commander personally commended all personnel for their collective efforts, reaffirming the Army’s enduring commitment to safeguarding the nation and standing shoulder to shoulder with the people during times of crisis. His visit to the 56 Infantry Division served as a significant morale booster, further strengthening the determination and esprit de corps of all ranks.
