56 INFANTRY DIVION IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PROGRAM ON INDIGENOUS MEDICAL SYSTEMS

The 56 Infantry Division successfully conducted a lecture on indigenous medical systems at the Division Headquarters on 10 December 2025, as part of a programme implemented in collaboration with Ayurvedic Doctors. The session aimed to enhance awareness and practical understanding of traditional medical practices that contribute to preventive healthcare and overall well-being of service personnel. Dr. R. S. H. De Zoysa of the Vavuniya Ayurvedic Hospital delivered a comprehensive lecture, sharing valuable insights into time-tested indigenous medical practices relevant to daily life and operational environments.

A total of 06 X 100 participants, comprising officers and non-commissioned officers from the 56 Infantry Division as well as Infantry Brigade Headquarters and battalions under its command, actively took part in the programme. The lecture provided participants with knowledge on the application of indigenous medicine for maintaining health, managing common ailments, and supporting physical and mental resilience, thereby complementing modern medical practices within the military framework.

The programme was conducted under the direction of Major General S A U A Solangaarachchi RSP ndc psc, General Officer Commanding of the 56 Infantry Division, and was supervised by the Division’s Colonel General Staff Colonel L A P M K Liyanarachchi. The successful execution of this initiative reflects the Division’s commitment to holistic troop welfare and the integration of indigenous knowledge systems in strengthening the health and operational effectiveness of its personnel.
