On the instructions of the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 56 Infantry Division, the 561 Infantry Brigade organized a special Bodhi Puja on 04 December 2025 at the Kanakarayankulam Temple, coinciding with the sacred Unduvap Pura Pasalowaka Poya Day. The ceremony was held to invoke blessings for those affected by the recent flood disaster and to commemorate the lives lost during the tragedy.
The event was organized and conducted under the leadership of the Commander - 561 Infantry Bridge with the participation of senior officers, officers and other ranks of 56 Infantry Division and under command units of the brigade
This religious observance was carried out by Saddharma Keerthi Sri Sumana Siddhartha Pujyapada Etambagaskada Kalyanathissabidhan Thero from Etabagaskada Rajamaha Temple with deep respect and compassion, offering spiritual strength to the families of the deceased and those displaced by the disaster. The ceremony also emphasized the brigade’s dedication to protecting and supporting communities during times of national adversity.
The occasion was additionally significance as the 16th anniversary of the 561 Infantry Brigade falls on 07 December 2025. In line with said milestone, special arrangements were also made to honor the memory of deceased war heroes and to pay tribute to disabled war heroes who have made immense sacrifices in safeguarding the nation.
Through this Bodhi Puja held on the auspicious Unduvap Poya Day, the 561 Infantry Brigade reaffirmed its enduring commitment to national service, compassion, and remembrance.
